Cal Official Visit Weekend of December 16th Preview and List of Visitors

Get ready for another big recruiting weekend this week as Cal hosts a small, but talented group of recruits from all around the country including Hawaii during this December 16th Weekend. This is the third week in a row that there have been a group of recruits taking an official visit to Cal. Here is the recap from the first weekend, December 2nd, that netted an Offensive Line commit. Also, here is Golden Bear Lair’s notes on the ridiculously huge December 9th weekend visit, the second weekend. This December 16th Weekend is the last real official visit weekend for December as the visits start coming again in January if recruits don’t change their plans. Let’s take a look at the couple of recruits that are visiting Cal this December 16th Weekend and see where each of them are in their recruitment.

Ka’imi Fairbarn (Kicker, Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawaii): He has an offer from Cal and is one of the best kickers in the country right now. Solid on kickoffs, a great Field Goal kicker, and could become the starter soon after gets to college according to scouting reports. He committed to UCLA last month and also plans to take an official there on January 13th so Cal has some work to do if they want to pull him away from the Bruins. The visit could have a huge impact so Cal does have a decent shot, we’ll keep you updated if there is any change in his recruitment after the weekend.

D.J. Foster (RB, Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona): One of the best playmakers on the west coast in the 2012 recruiting class, he has warmed up to Cal recently.  Cal offered him late, but then Oregon offered him even later, which could have changed his whole recruitment. Fortunately for Cal that didn’t happen as it was reported recently that he is not going to be a Duck because both parties have no interest anymore. It looks like Cal will be competing with ASU and UCLA, but Cal fans should like their chances. From what I’m hearing, Foster has really liked Cal so far and with the visit and some time, there is a very good chance he ends up a Bear. This would be another huge addition to the recruiting class as he would be a big pickup.

Darius Hamilton (DE, Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey): Five Star recruit by most recruiting sites, he has offers from almost all of the traditional College Football powerhouses. He visited Florida last weekend and really liked it. It looks like it will be hard to get him to be a Bear, but this is definitely where Tosh Lupoi will come in and try to work his magic. There definitely is a possibility he could go to Cal, but we will have to wait until after his visit to see how much he really has considered playing in Berkeley.

Steven Moore (OL, Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, CA): Cal has a great chance at landing this stud of an Offensive Lineman. At first, he committed to Arizona, but he decommitted after the coaching change. He was on a official visit to Boise State last weekend and that will be Cal’s main competitor it seems. There is also some new info coming out that the new the UCLA Head Coach, Jim Mora, visited him today before he left to visit Cal to try to make him become a Bruin. We’ll find out soon whether that visit by Mora will have any effect on Moore’s recruitment. Ultimately, I think Cal will get Moore as Cal usually wins recruiting battles with Boise State and UCLA, but nothing is for sure yet.

That concludes the list of recruits taking an Official Visit to Cal on this December 16th Weekend. There were supposed to be more recruits, but they all re-scheduled to January. Not a big deal as Cal would love to land these recruits visiting December 16th.
