Washington State Preview

facebooktwitterreddit

This week, Cal visits the 1-8 (0-6 in Pac 10) Washington State Cougars (WSU). WSU is on a 7 game losing streak. Last week, they lost to Arizona State 42-0. Their only win was a 23-22 victory over Montana State. WSU’s running game is absolutely terrible (only 73 yards per game). Their passing game is actually pretty good. Sophmore QB Jeff Tuel has the most passing yards in the Pac 10 (2,233 yards). WR Marquess Wilson leads the Pac 10 with 885 yards. WSU’s defense is awful. It gives up 40 points a game, which is 116th in the nation. Definately look for WSU to pass the ball. Cal is 4-4 (2-3 in Pac 10). Cal backup QB Brock Mansion will start. Kevin Riley is out for the year with a knee injury. Cal is coming off of another road loss (to Oregon State).  Look for Cal to use Shane Vereen and run the ball a lot of the time.

Things to Watch For: WSU’s run offense is 117th in the FBS, WSU scores 18 points a game, which is 107th in the country, Jeff Tuel has 14 TD passes, Cal averages 31 points for and 22 against, Cal averages 159 yards rushing a game

My Predictions:

Cal wins 27-10

Shane Vereen will have a monster game, with at least 100 yards rushing.

Brock Mansion will throw for under 100 yards in his debut.
