Oregon Preview
By Editorial Staff
This week, Cal plays against the #1 seeded (9-0, 6-0 in Pac 10) Oregon Ducks at home. Oregon has been absolutely dominant this year. They have beaten Stanford (#9) and USC (#24). They also have 72-0 and 69-0 wins. They have one every game by 11 points or more. They feature the 5th ranked rush offense (305 yards per game). Their running back is LaMichael James, and he has 1,331 rushing yards, which is 2nd in the FBS. Their passing game is just as good (262 yards per game). Their defense is phenomenal too. They have averaged only 18 points against this season. Look for Oregon to mostly run the ball, but their will definitely be a fair share of passing too. Cal got its first road win of the season against WSU last week (20-13). Brock Mansion will start once again. Last week, he had 171 passing yards and 2 interceptions. Look for Cal to use Shane Vereen once again and let him run the ball a lot.
Things to Watch For:
Oregon averages 55 points a game, which is 1st in the nation, Oregon QB Darren Thomas is tied for 7th in the country with 22 TD passes, LaMichael James has 17 TD’s rushing (1st in nation), Cal is ranked 37th in points against, Shane Vereen has 12 TD’s rushing
My Predictions:
Oregon wins 31-10
Shane Vereen will have a bad day.
Brock Mansion will have a nightmare day against the good Oregon secondary.
