Gabe Marks – Wide Receiver

Gabe Marks is a receiver to be reckoned with. This season, his sophomore season, he has become the most potent, consistent offensive tools for what has been a pretty solid unit this season. He is a superb route runner, who is precise and seldom makes a mistake. Thusfar this season, he has 37 receptions for 423 yards and four touchdowns. He also has 11.4 yards per catch. He may not have the deep play potential that some players have, though he does have big-play potential and break-away speed, but he is always a first down threat.

His game is a nice mix of speed and strength. However, he is not someone who will get the kind of praise he should, because he doesn’t have the body type that rivals the Vidal Hazelton’s and Mike Williams’ of the world. That could actually be a benefit for him, because this leaves him as an underrated and underestimated receiver.

Cal must neutralize Marks. Dom Williams is another threat that could torch Cal’s secondary, but the smart thing to do is to take your chances with Williams and keep Marks out of the equation. You never want someone who is as on-the-money as Marks is. Cal is going to have their work cut out for them.
